The Beyond Robert Schuman’s Europe project

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the publication of the Schuman Declaration, the Spinelli Insitute, together with partner organizations, carried out a project aimed at continuing and deepening the debate on European integration.

We organized six international offline and online debates, in which participants from 14 European Union countries took part. We engaged EU citizens in joint reflection on the history and future of Europe. We asked young Europeans about the contemporary significance of the Schuman Declaration and the future directions of the European community.

The project resulted in a report created together with partner organizations, in which we analyzed the contribution of five great Europeans to the European project. It presents the Schuman Declaration as a common heritage of European nations, regardless of the division of Europe after 1945. The report can be found here.
